She is the Henry Putnam Professor of Economics and Public Affairs and Director of the Center for Health and Well-Being at Princeton University. She is the editor in chief of the Journal of Economic Literature and on the editorial board of the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and has also served several other journals in an editorial capacity including the Journal of Health Economics, the Journal of Labor Economics, and the Journal of Public Economics. Her research focuses on the health and well-being of children.
She is considered an expert on the topic of Head Start program
She was vice-president of the American Economic Association. She has also served as a consultant for the National Health Interview Survey and the National Longitudinal Surveys and on the advisory board of the National Children’s Study.
