This book began as a catalog for an exhibition prepared by the author (professor) and eight graduate students in 1975-76. It includes many black and white photos, as well as commentary and technical data. It is organized according to regions of origin and includes works from Rome, Naples, Tuscany, Genor, Bologna/Emilia, Lombardy, Venice/Veneto, and "The Travelers." A thorough bibliography is included.
