Balint Vazsonyi was born on March 7, 1936 in Budapest, Hungary. He was a son of Miklos and Hedvig Vazsonyi. he had a brother, Gabor Vazsonyi.
In 1956 Balint Vazsonyi received an Artist Diploma from Franz Liszt Academy of Music. From 1957 to 1958 he attended Vienna Academy of Music (now the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna). In 1960 he obtained a Master of Music degree from Florida State University. In 1982 Vazsonyi gained a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Budapest (now Eötvös Loránd University).
In 1948 Balint Vazsonyi made his debut as pianist at the Liszt Academy of Music. In 1959 he immigrated to the United States. From 1960 to 1962 Vazsonyi resided in Zürich, Switzerland and Wiesbaden, Germany, giving concerts and recording in Europe. From 1962 to 1964, he became Pianist-in-Residence at the Interlochen Arts Academy. In 1964 he became a naturalized American citizen. From 1964 to 1978 Vazsonyi lived in London, England with his family and had private studies with pianist Dame Myra Hess until her death.
From 1978 to 1984 he was a professor of music at the Indiana University School of Music (now the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music). From 1983 to 1992 Vazsonyi was a founder and the chief executive officer of Telemusic, Inc. In 1993 Balint Vazsonyi was appointed a dean of music at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. In September 1994 he was asked to resign.
From 1993 to 1995 he was served as a senior fellow at the Potomac Foundation. From 1993 to 1995 Vazsonyi was an honorary cultural counselor of Republic of Hungary. In 1995 he was appointed a director of the Center for the American Founding.
He was a contributor to periodicals, including National Review, Washington Times, and "The Battle for America’s Soul" to Common Sense. He taught master classes in piano at Harvard, Yale and the New England Conservatory of Music.

1998In the 1990s, Balint Vazsonyi became increasingly known for his political activities. In 1991 he competed for political office as a Republican candidate for mayor of Bloomington, Indiana. His bid failed, but it brought him recognition as an ardent conservative, as did his achievement in exposing a local Marxist operation.
Influenced by economists Ludwig von Mises and F.A. Hayek, Balint Vazsonyi developed a political philosophy based on what he saw as the essential principles of the Constitution and Anglo-American legal tradition. He distilled these ideals as the "Four Points of the Compass": the rule of law, individual rights, the guarantee of property and a common American identity.
On February 26, 1960 Balint Vazsonyi married Barbara Whittington. They have a son, Nicholas.
