Czerski was brought up in Altrincham, near Manchester and educated at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls. She is of Polish ancestry. She graduated from Churchill College, Cambridge with degrees Master of Arts and Master of Science in Natural Sciences (Physics) and a Doctor of Philosophy in experimental explosives physics, particularly Department Explosive (RDX).
She is currently a Fellow in the department of mechanical engineering at University College London. She was previously at the Institute for Sound and Vibration at the University of Southampton. Czerski is a regular science presenter for the British Broadcasting Corporation. Her programmes have included: Orbit: Earth"s Extraordinary Journey, a three-part series on British Broadcasting Corporation Two.
