President of Board of Lands and Works, 1872. Judge of County Courts, Courts of Mines and Courts of Insolvency throughout Victoria, 1884-1900. Department of Agriculture was founded by him, and he was first Minister of Agriculture.
Member of Executive Council, Colony of Victoria. Chairman of General Sessions. King’s Counsel; Knight Officer Legion of Honour; Knight Officer Crown of Italy; Member Royal Archaeological Association, of Great Britain.
