Studied at Varley School, St. John. Mount Allison University (graduated in Arts, 1873). Bachelor of Laws Harvard, 1877.
Began a practice of the law at Sussex, where he has since continued to reside. Member of Legislature King’s County, 1886, five times re-elected. Speaker of House of Assembly of New Brunswick, 1890.
Solicitor-General, 1893. AttorneyGeneral of the Province, 1897-1900. Chief Commissioner of Public Works of New Brunswick, 1900-1908.
Doctor of Civil Law Mount Allison University, 1900. Liberal; Methodist. Appointed, under an Act passed in 1900, chairman, to revise and consolidate the laws of the Province. Resigned, 1900, and contested QueensSunbury for Dominion Parliament. A Judge of the Supreme Court of New Brunswick since 1908.
