Studied at Mukhamediya Medressah.
Expelled from medressah in 1905 for active participation in school reforn movement. From 1907 contributed to Tatar-language journal ’’Child Training”. 1907-1909 founded and ran radical newspaper El Islakh (Reform).
Closely associated with Bolshevik Khusain Yamashev, avant garde writers G. Kulakhmetov, G. Tukay, G. Kamal, ect. 1907 first work published — story "Dream Before a Holiday”. Literature and publicistic works attacked survivals of feudalism in everyday life, depiced Tatar youth’s aspirations for a new mode of life and Russian culture.
From 1912 worked for liberal newspaper Koyash (Sun) and journal An (Consciousness). By advocating realism and adherence to moral principles in criticism, he contributed much to the development of Tatar lit criticism. After 1917 October Revol concentrated on journalism.
Major critical articles dealt with work of Tukay, Kulakhmetov, Kamal, et cetera In last decade of his life turned to mysticism under the influence of an incurable illness, the famine in the Volga area, and the horrors of the Civil War.
