Studied at Tiflis Teachers’ Training Seminary.
1903 joined Socialist-ReVol Party while studying in Tiflis. 1905 took part in Geo peasant uprising. Frequently imprisoned and exiled.
1917 joined ’’AnarchistCommunist” Party and helped to establish Soviet rule in Irkutsk. Spring 1918 organized a partisan detachment on orders from the Irkutsk Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee. Summer 1919 fought in the rear of General Kolchak’s army.
Spring 1920 fought against Japanese in Transbaykal. January 1921 joined Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks) with membership backdated to 1917. From spring 1921 in charge of Korean revol detachments in Far East.
From December 1921 commander of armed forces, Yakutsk Province.
