1918 joined Red Army. Fought in Civil War, after which he held a succession of commands. 1941-1942 commander of a rifle division
11th Guards Rifle Corps. 1942-1943, as commander, 9th Army, took part in defense of Caucasus and counter-offensive. 1943 commander, 18th, 9th and 37th armies.
1943-1944 took part in Kirovograd operation. 1943-1945 commander, 52nd Army. 1944 took part in Korsun’-Shevchenkovskiy and Uman’-Botoshansk operations.
1945 took part in Odcr-Vistula operation. 1947-1953 commander, Transbaykal and North Caucasian Military district. Deputy, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Soviet of 1950 convocation.
