From 1915 associate professor, Petrograd University. 1920-1930 professor and head, Chair of Russian History, Saratov University. 1931-1935 professor and associate, State Historical Museum, Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History and Historical Records Institute.
Specialized in the economics history of 17th and 18th-century Russia. Also studied the history of the Schism and the Old-Believers.
