MERTSALOV, Nikolay was born in 1866.
1888 graduate Moscow University. 1894 graduate Moscow Higher Technical College.
1895—1912 lectured at Moscow University. 1897-1899 junior professor, 1899—1930 professor, Moscow Higher Technical College. From 1920 professor, Engineer Faculty, Moscow’s Timiryazev Agric Academy, developed in 1930 into the Moscow Institute for the Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture
Wrote major works on the kinematics and dynamics of mechanism. 1914, in his course Dinamika mekhanizmov (The Dynamics of Mechanisms), he outlined methods for the dynamic study of mechanisms. 1916, in Kinematika mekhanizmov (The Kinematics of Mechanisms), he outlined the principles of kinematic geometry and their application to the study of mechanisms.
These books had a great influence on the development of mech theory in Russia. On the basis of these methods he devised a new and more precise solution to the calculation of flywheels. Pioneered the theory of spatial mechanisms.
1921 began a course on spatial mechanisms. Wrote works on the design of spatial geared transmissions for expanding and non-expanding surfaces. 1946, in his work Zadacha o dvizhenii tvyordogo tela, imeyushchego ttepodvizhnuyu tochku (The Problem of the Motion of a Solid Body with an Immobile Point), continued the research of South. V. Kovalevskaya and South. A. Chaplygin and resolved several special cases of the gyroscope problem.
Studied the hydrodynamics of lubrication theory and examined the three-dimensional solution of lubrication problems. Contributed to thermodynamic theory: using the techniques of mathematical analysis, established the link between experimental results and theoretically derived thermodynamic equations.
There is no solid or tangible evidence for God nor a logical argument for God. The existence of God is taken on faith and not by evidence.
Marxism–Leninism as the only truth could not, by its very nature, become outdated.
