From 1917 Kazan’ Province Commissar of Labor. 1919-1920 worked at Higher Institute of Publ Fduc, Kazan'. 1921 professor, Sverdlov Communist University.
Simultaneously deputy ed, journal “Prolelarskaya revolyutsiya”. From 1922 lecturer, then professor, Moscow State University. From 1929 member, Section for the Study of Proletarian History, Institute of History', Communist Academy.
In 1930's professor, Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History and Institute of Red Professor. Sided with “Marxist philosophical school” headed by M.N. Prokrovskiy. Specialized in history of Communist Party and Russian revolutions.
Coauthor, 4—volume “istoriya VKP(b)” (The History of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) (1926-1929), edited by Yaroslavskiy. Compiled many editions of documents on Party history, the history of the working class and the history of revol movements in Russia. 1934, following a resolution of the Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) and the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Council of People's Commissar, helped compile a textbook on Soviet history which attacked, inter alia, the conceptions of Pokrovskiy’s historical school.
1937 arrested by State Security organs.
