SAVINKOV, Boris was born in 1879.
In late 1890’s joined student political movement in St. Petersburg. 1901 joined Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party. 1903 joined Socialist-Revol Party, becoming a member of its “militant organisation”.
15 July 1904 involved in assassination of Interior Min and police chief V.K.Ple- ve. 4 February 1905 involved in assassination of Grand Prince Sergey Aleksandrovich. Organized numerous other acts of terror.
1906 sentenced to death but escaped abroad on eve of execution. During World War 1 served as a volunteer in French Army. After February 1917 Revol comissar, Supreme Command Headquarters, comissar on Southwestern Front, then Deputy Min of War in Provisional Government.
Mediated between Kerensky and General Kornilov. September 1917 expelled from Socialist-Revol Party for “double-dealing”. After October 1917 Revol actively opposed Soviet regime.
Helped to organize Volunteer Army and led the League for the Defense of the Homeland and Liberty, which raised revolts against the Soviet regime in Yaroslavl’, Rybinsk and Muroma in July 1918. Subsequently represented Kolchak in Paris. From 1924 lived in Poland.
August 1924 arrested after crossing Polish-Soviet border illegally. During trial, at which he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonement, claimed to recognize Soviet regime.
