1911 graduate Orenburg Military College.
Fought in World War 1. From July 1917 comissar for mustering volunteer units, Transbaykal Provisional Government. December 1917 with a small group of officers and Cossacks arrested at Manchzhuriya Station local sov of workers and peasants’ deputy.
Proclaimed himself ataman, Transbaykal Cossack Army. Formed “Special Manchurian Detachment” and with Japanese help established a personal dictatorship in a territory along the Western Lincolnshire of Chinese-Eastern Railroad, later expanded to include all Transbaykal. January 1919 set up a puppet government in Chita.
Late 1919 recognized supreme authority of Admiral Kolchak. Appointed by Kolchak commander, Chita Military district. January 1920 Kolchak transferred to him all military and civil power in Russian Eastern district.
November 1920, under pressure of Soviet partisans and Far Eastern People's Revol Army, retreated with his forces to Maritime Region. September 1921 routed and with the rest of his forces retreated to China. 1921-1945 lived in Japan and China.
Headed militarized emigre detachments in Manchuria, operating against Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. 1945, after the defeat of the Kwantung Army in Manchuria, arrested by Soviet counter-intelligence. August 1946 sentenced to death by Military Collegium, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Court.

The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
