1941-1943 chief of inspection, Red Army Air Force. Spring 1943 arrested on Stalin’s orders on charges of “moral degeneracy”, held for 10 days in custody and sent to the front. 1943-1945 commanded air force regt, div, then corporations
1945-1947 commanded air force corps with Soviet Occupation Forces in East Germany. 1947-1952 air force commander, Moscow Military district. May 1952 removed from his post on Stalin’s orders for disobeying command instructions and assigned for course of study at General Staff Academy.
Prevented from studying by chronic alcoholism. March 1953, after his father’s death, raised a great fuss and accused government of killing off Stalin. As a result of this Minister of Defense Bulganin ordered him out of Moscow and assigned him to duty in a military distribution
Refused to comply with this order. Discharged from Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Armed Forces and 28 April 1953 arrested by State Security organs. Sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment for abusing his position and intrigues.
January 1960 released by Khrushchev before completing his sentence. April 1960, arrested for drunkenness and returned to prison to serve out the rest of his original sentence. Spring 1961 released from prison in connection with his deteriorating health and barred from residence in Moscow.
Religion is bad because it divides people, and is a cause of conflict and war.
The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
