Then field eng inspector, Command Headquarters. Did research on principles of fortification and camouflage. Founder, Institute of Military Engineer.
Build forts at Kovno and Novogeorgiyevsk and designed forts for Port Arthur and Vladivostok. Permanent member, Russian State Commission for Defense Engineer. 1918 in charge of eng works during German advance on Petrograd.
From May 1918 chairman, Russian Defense Engineer Collegium. From 1919 in charge of fortification of Moscow region. Until 1923 morked for Main Engineer Board.
1923-1927 professor of fortifications, Military Technical Academy.
