Peter Schreiner was born in 1853 in the old village of College Point, N.Y., he was the son of a German emigrant, Mathius Schreiner, who settled there in 1840.

From his father Peter gained a knowledge of the rudiments of building and architecture, and later in his life designed several buildings in College Point, including St. Paul's Epis¬copal Church and the Odd Fellows Hall, also planned a number of factories in Queens County.
