Petr Nikitenko is a Belarusian scientist and economist, since 1994 Academician of the National Academy of Sciences (2000; h L. Corr.), Doctor of Economic Sciences (1991), Professor (1991).
Background
The future scientist was born on January 2, 1943 in the village of Zhigalovo Vitebsk region in the working-class family, and in 16 years, began his career as an electric welder at Vitebsk house-building plant, while combining it with school for working youth.
Education
After serving in the Army in 1965, he entered the economic planning department of the Belarusian State Institute of National Economy im.V.V. Kuibyshev (now - the Belarusian State Economic University) and graduated with distinction in 1969, it was showed here his interest in science and outstanding organizational skills - he was elected secretary of the Komsomol committee of the Institute, led by youth student construction teams to the virgin - Kazakhstan, for which he was awarded the medal "For development of virgin lands. "
Career
In 1983-1990 he worked as Deputy Director for Research and Academic Affairs, acting Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies at BSU - BSU rector. From 1990-1995 he was First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Chairman of the economy. At the same time in 1983-1995 years he served as Associate Professor, Professor of the Institute of Advanced Studies at the Belarusian State University, Professor, Head of Department of the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus. Since 1995, he was the director of the Minsk International Educational Center. In the 1998-2010 years he worked as Director of the Institute of Economics of NAS of Belarus, at the same time with the 2002 he was Head of the Belarusian Institute of Law. In 2002-2009 he was Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts, member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Since 2010 has worked at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences as Advisor.
