1911 graduated Novorossiysk University, Odessa.
1925-1927 carried out three expeditions to Asia Minor to study local flora. Organized a large herbarium of cultivated plants of the Old and New World. 1954 attended International Congress and 200th anniversary celebrations of Agriculture Academy, in Florence and read a paper on the state of agricultural training in the USSR.
1954 elected Honorary President, 8th International Botanical Congress in France and read a paper on the plant resources of the USSR;s. 1955 corresponding member, German Democratic Republic Academy, of Agriculture Science. 1955 visited Argentina to select seeds of cultivated plants.
Discovered two new varieties of wheat.
