Career
He received his Master"s Degree (maîtrise) in Philosophy at Aix-Marseille University in 1975. He is best known as a novelist but has also translated several works of French literature (including Gustave Flaubert, Marcel Proust and Claude Lévi-Strauss"s Tristes tropiques) and written song lyrics, plays, poetry, and screenplays. They have two grown sons.
