Manager, 1875-1887, then proprietor of the Gault House, which was built by his father. Superintendent of the Gates Iron Works, 1887-1894, and vice-president and president until 1901, when the business was purchased by Allis-Chalmers Company. Became manager of the Gates plant of Allis-Chalmers Company and later elected 3d vice-president and general superintendent of Allis-Chalmers Company, and had charge of the operating of its plants until April 1904 (resigned).
