Phillip M. White is an American school librarian and also a writer.


Mr. White was born on April 25, 1950, in Marshall, Texas, United States. He is a son of Paul C., Sr., a schoolteacher, and Avice Pearl, a homemaker whose maiden name was Brown, White.


Phillip M. White received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Houston in 1974. In 1977 he earned Master of Library Science from the University of Texas.


Mr. White was a reference librarian at Texas State University, San Marcos, from 1979 to 1981. Between 1982 and 1985 he occupied the post of a reference librarian at Perry-Castaneda Library at University of Texas at Austin. Then Mr. White worked as a reference librarian at Love Library and professor of library science at San Diego State University, San Diego, CA, starting from 1985 and adjunct professor of American Indian studies since 1989.
