Pietro Aurelio Muretto

Background

Muretto was born on February 18, 1941 in Sermide, Lombardy, Italy; the son of Giovanni Maria Muretto and Emma Fiorenza.

Education

Muretto received a degree in medicine from the University of Sassari in 1968. Two years later he earned his degree in hematology from the University of Genoa. In 1976, Pietro received a degree in pathology and in oncology in 1979 from the Catholic University.

Career

Muretto began his career as an assistant at the University of Sassari in 1968 and had held it for a year. He served as a lieutenant in Italian Armed Forces from 1969 to 1970. Then in 1971, Pietro was appointed an assistant pathologist in hospital in Faenza, where he served until 1973. In 1980, he became chief of the Department of Surgical Pathology in San Salvatore Pesaro Hospital, where he worked until 2008.
