Mr. Wang attended the Peiyang Military College in Tientsin, China and he also studied at the Japanese Military Officers' College in Tokyo, where he joined the Tung Ming Hui.
Po-ling Wang took active part in the first Revolution of 1911. He served as high adviser to Dr. Sun Yat-sen then Generalissimo in Canton, China in 1923, assisted in organising the Whampoa Military Academy, in which he served as an instructor in 1924, participated in the 1926 Revolution and commanded the 1st division of the Nationalist Northern Punitive Expeditionary Forces in 1926.
Mr. Wang was a Commander of Yangtsze Forts in 1927, member of Kiangsu Provincial Government and concurrently Commissioner of reconstruction for Kiangsu in 1928-1930, member of th'e Central Executive Committee of Kuomintang, since 1929.
