Pattullo graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Master of Arts degree in 1968.
Pattullo worked as a features editor for the Observer Magazine in 1986. She also served at the Caribbean Insight as a deputy editor from 1990. From the next year, Pattullo held the position of a desk editor at the Guardian.
Pattullo became a co-founder of travel company Traveller’s Tree, as well as of a publishing house Papillote Press.
Her books include Last Resorts: the Cost of Tourism in the Caribbean, a critical assessment of the economic, environmental and cultural impacts of tourism development in the region.
Pattullo is a member of the National Union of Journalists.
