Educated at Lobamba National High School until 1964 when he went to complete his education at Matsapa Swazi National High School.
In 1966 he was appointed clerk to the Swazi National Court at Manzini. A year later he turned to politics and won a seat in Parliament as Imbokodvo candidate for Usutu. He became a member of the Public Accounts Com mittee. In 1968 he was appointed an executive member of the Sebenta National Institute which was established to send teachers into the villages and eliminate adult illiteracy.
His skill in committee work resulted in his appointment to various working groups set up by the Swazi National Council. He has served as an envoy of the King to several African capitals and he was one of the Swazi delegation to the OAU summit at Rabat, Morocco, in June 1972.
Son of King Sobhuza II, being groomed for cabinet office. Well-educated, intelligent and perceptive. Alert to the course of African nationalism throughout the continent, he has registered Swaziland’s support at meetings of the Organisation of African Unity. At home he has won a high reputation for his work in the programme to stamp out adult illiteracy.
