In 1982 Quek studied at the National University of Singapore in Singapore. In 1987 Quek became a Bachelor of Medicin.
Quek worked as a consultant and cardiologist in Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore. He held this position until 2000. In 2006 Quek became a Director in non-invasive cardiac laboratory.
