At Ranbaxy, spearheaded efforts towards discovery of New pharmaceutical substances (NCE's), set up necessary infrastructure, recruited trained and lead drug discovery teams of Medicinal chemists. Biotechnologists, molecular
biologists, pharmacologists, microbiologists and toxicologists in target areas, Assembled an IND team for co-licensing of NCE's; worked with target milestones and vision 2003 for Ranbaxy's R &D endeavors, internationally.
Established extensive research networking with premier CSIR laboratories, IIT's, Universities and medical schools within India and abroad. Secured DST/CSIR funding (Rupees. 178 Million on 50:50 basis) for 10 projects on antibacterial, antifungal, cardiovascular and anticancer agents under Govt's Drugs and pharmaceuticals program on New Molecule Research as well as under technology Development Fund for commercialization of indigenous technologies.
Participated as an invited speaker at UNIDO sponsored workshop on combinatorial technology and structure based drug discovery, India's needs and priorities, Trieste, Italy (1997): Member, Scientific Committee of the ICS-UNIDO sponsored First Training Course on Combinatorial Chemistry and structure based molecular design, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
