Between 1980 and 1982, Horn attended Norway’s Cavalry Officer School. As a Second Lieutenant in the reconnaissance division, young Horn perfected management skills. Horn relocated to North America in 1982, and studied Economics at Williams College in Massachusetts. Horn received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1985, graduating with honors. Following his undergraduate studies, Horn received his post-secondary education at Harvard Business School, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Horn entered the workforce as an Analyst at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in New York City. Following his MBA studies, Horn accepted a position as an Associate at Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation in New York. Then, Horn was the Vice President at New York City’s Mortimer Scott Associates. In 1995, Horn relocated with his wife to his native Norway, where he accepted his current position as Chairman at Taconic AS.
Taconic AS, founded by Horn, has holdings and investments that focus on international shipping, and real estate in Norway.
Horn has been skiing since he was 2-years-old. He started cross-country skiing while at Williams College, and was a varsity cross-country skier for the University. Post-matriculation, he has maintained his interest in skiing, and is a Division 1 Nordic cross-country racer. Horn is currently ranked in the top 10 for his age range in ski marathons across Europe. Engaged in athletic ventures, Horn is also an avid hiker, and golfer, and spends his leisurely time partaking in those activities.
Actively engaged in various philanthropic ventures, Horn serves on the Board of many charities. He is on the Right to Play Global Leadership Council, an international charity that leverages the power of play for underprivileged children across the world. Horn is also an avid supporter of the organization Restore The Music UK, which champions local music programs within London’s public schools.
In addition to being in leadership positions for many charitable organizations, Horn is also involved with various private sector companies. He is a Board Director for companies like Eiendomsspar AS, Victoria Eiendom AS, and W Sportsmedia AB. Along with serving on the Harvard University Global Advisory Council.
