In 1976 Rahim became a Master of Science. In three years he received a degree of the Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Aachen in Germany.
Rahim worked at the research center in Juelich, Germany, until 2010. He was the head of the research group of applied nuclear physics and nuclear engineering. Later, he worked as a professor at RWTH Aachen University of applied sciences.
