Rajiv Mehrotra, Indian filmmaker, television commentator. Fellow, INLAKS Foundation; grantee British Council, United Nations Educational, Warner Brothers; awarded the Rajika Kirpalani special prize for young journalist of Year. Member Film and television Institute India (governing council).


Mehrotra, Rajiv was born on March 4, 1953 in Calcutta, India. Son of Har Narain and Shanti (Khanna) Mehrotra.


Bachelor with honors, Delhi University, 1973. Undergrad., Oxford University, 1976. Master of Fine Arts in Film, Columbia University, 1981.


Freelance filmmaker and commentator. Managing trustee Public Svc Broadcasting Trust, New Delhi. Visiting professor Satyajit Ray Film and television Institute.

Founder, member National Council for Public Service Communications. Regional coordinator for Indian Documentary Producers Association. Member Doordarshan committee for programming for national integration.

    • Worked on over 50 short films as director, cinematographer, editor, writer and narrator.
