He was the president and chief executive officer of United States Airways Group from 1998 until his resignation in 2001. Gangwal was born in Kolkata, India in 1953.
He did his schooling from Don Bosco Park Circus, received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania.
