Ralph Aston, American naval officer. Served in Sampson’s fleet during Spanish-American war, on cruiser Cincinnati, from which transferred to the United States cruiser Brooklyn, completing sea service April 23, 1899.

Aston, Ralph was born on January 31, 1841 in Middletown, Connecticut, United States. Son of Henry Hungerford and Ann (Shephard) Aston.

Education

Educated Chase Seminary private tutors.

Career

2d, Salena Hinman, October 26, 1882. Appointed 3rd assistant engineer United States Navy, 1861, and advanced to captain, March 3, 1899. Rear-admiral and retired 1902.

First service on steam gunboat Cayuga, West Gulf Station, which first to pass lower forts at capture of New Orleans.
