Ramdas Lakshminarayanapuram graduated from Madras University with Bachelor of Arts in 1920, from Calcutta University with Master of Arts in 1923 and with Doctor of Philosophy in 1927.

Ramdas Lakshminarayanapuram was director at Agricultural Meteorology (1932-1953); Deputy Director-General of Observatories (1953-1955); Officiating Director-General (1955-1956); Head of Heat and Power Division National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi (195619-62); Officer on Special Duty (Technical), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi (since 1962).
Ramdas Lakshminarayanapuram was a delegate at various International conferences. He toured Europe and USA. Awarded title of M.B.E. by British Government (1946) and "Padma Shri" by Government of India (1958). He also had some publications about 200 articles and research papers and 1 book.
