Ranko Takakuwa was born in 1726 in Kanazawa, Japan.
Ranko Takakuwa was a physician by profession in Kyoto and is best remembered as a haiku poet, who did much to restore the art of the Temmei Era. Though fluent in diction, his poems lacked originality of thought.
Other records say he died in 1799.
