Raphael Abecassis began to study art at age 21, though he had never studied - or even painted - prior to that event. After his military service, he saw an ad for an art teacher seminar and he decided to go. He went to the College of Education in Beersheba
Raphael Abecassis continues to evolve as he fuses his vision of the painting styles of Jewish masters of past centuries with 21st-century style and composition.
Raphael Abecassis went on to win one of the nation's most coveted competitions, being tapped to design the official poster art for Israel's Independence Day Celebrations in 1986 and 1991.
Raphael Abecassis created an incredible stained glass masterwork, "Sephardic Heritage Windows", graces the Sephardic Temple Tifereth Israel, in Los Angeles. Raphael Abecassis also Illuminated text for President Chaim Herzog's 40th year Independence Day presentation at the Wailing Wall in 1987.
