Background
Rebecca Dolinsky was born on May 26, 1962 in New York City. She graduated from The Brearley School and then attended Amherst College, where she studied with James Baldwin. She lived in Paris, France in 1982 and then at The Ecole Normale Supérieure rue d'Ulm from 1984-1985 where she studied with Jacques Derrida. Dolinsky studied drawing, painting and sculpture at The New York Studio School with Charles Cajori, Bruce Gagnier, Mercedes Matter and Graham Nickson. She has exhibited her books, drawings, paintings, sculpture, films and installations widely and is the founder of The Salonistas, Paris. Dolinsky has two sons with Frank Merle, mathematician: Jascha Theophile Dolinsky Merle born May 23, 2002 and Maxim Salomon Dolinsky Merle, born June 13, 2007.
