Joined the army, 1879. Gained Government grant for Arabic in Egypt. Member of the Senate of the University of Malta, 1890.
Served Egypt, 1882, with Royal Irish Fusiliers, present at Tel - el - Kebir (medal with clasp, Khedive’s Star). Soudan, 1884-1885.
Present at the engagements of Hasheen, Tamai, and McNeill’s Zereba in Soudan (despatches, promoted, two clasps). Senior Chaplain of the Fifth Division.
Present at Spion Kop, and engagements at Pieters Hill, South Africa, 1899-1900 (despatches, promoted, clasps for Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Laing’s Nek, and Belfast). Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1900; Roman Catholic Chaplain to the Forces 1st CL.
