Nozal was born in Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain, on October 25, 1947.
Requena Nozal started his musical training in trombone and piano attending music conservatories of Zaragoza, Valencia, Pamplona, and Madrid. For a number of years, he played professionally in various orchestras throughout Spain. However, his strong passion for painting emerged during his trips throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, the USA, and Russia, where he visited numerous museums getting valuable pictorial knowledge.
Starting from 1968, Nozal's works were dedicated to encaustic art and they reflected marginal social issues that were figurative in style. Many works of this period, including sculptures, were destroyed by the painter himself because he was dissatisfied with the result. His first solo exhibition was held in 1975 at the Provincial Museum of La Rioja.
In 1982 the painter took part in the "National Painting Contest for Young Artists", which was organized by the newspaper ABC, in its "VII Black and White Painting Prize" edition. In 1992 Requena Nozal moved to the coast of Alicante, settling down in Dénia. In the year 2004, he decided to totally change his style of painting to abstract expressionism and tachism, using in his works encaustic, acrylic and gold leaf.
In 2016 the City of Dénia financed the retrospective exhibition "Hemeroskopeion 1980-2015". It was held at the Centre d'Art l'Estació.
