In service of the United States as naval constructor at Cramp’s Shipyard, Philadelphia, 1898-1902. In charge battleship Connecticut, New York Navy Yard, 1902-1905. Naval constructor (Lieutenant-commander) and assistant to chief constructor, in charge of design and construction of all ships, 1905-1913.
Resigned, with rank of naval constructor, February 1913.
