Riichiro Koketsu graduated from Tokyo University, studied vegetable physiology in Europe and America.
After graduation served as assistant at Medical Department of Kyushu University. Riichiro Koketsu became professor of Kyushu University (1921).Following retirement under age limit (1946) became emeritus professor at Kyushu University. He was appointed professor at Fukuoka Women’s College (1950) and became head of its Domestic Science Department. Achieved results in fields of serological studies of vegetables. Works include "Physiological Botany" and "Vegetable Moisture Physiology."
