He went to Ise Province (Mie Prefecture) at the invitation of Lord Todo of that province and developed many pear orchards.
Learning that his native soil was suited to pear culture, he evolved a fine species of the fruit. The pears became famous as oshima pears and several villages benefited from their orchards. In his late years, he kept a large garden in his native place with many curious-shaped rocks and also collected old paintings, which attracted many visitors.
