DOUGLAS, Robert Kennaway was born on August 23, 1838 in Devonshire. Son of Reverend Philip W. Douglas.

Education

Studied at Blandford Grammar School.

Career

Appointed China Consular Service, 1858. Retired, and appointed Assistant in Charge of Chinese Library, British Museum, 1865. Keeper of Oriental Printed Books and Manuscripts at the British Museum, 1892-1907.

Retired 1907.; Professor of Chinese, King’s College London (Fellow, 1903 to 1908).
