2003Humphrey had carried with him an interest in the science of cloning ever since he first heard the concept in high school biology class. It intrigued him that man might someday duplicate himself outside the normal procreative process and that the door might open to perpetually replacing organs and body parts as they deteriorated beyond normal usage. He always questioned the ethics of human duplication in this manner and it seemed natural to him that cloned humans might not be sentient or even cooperative beings. On the other hand, perhaps man could make them superior through genetic manipulation. As the science of cloning moves from the realms of science fiction into reality, the possibilities become an endless supply of story ideas.
On October 10, 1969, Humphrey married Johanna B. They have no children.
