Weinman, Robert Alexander was born on March 19, 1915 in New York City. Son of Adolph Alexander and Margaret Lucille (Landman) Weinman.

He studied at the National Academy of Design studying with Carl Paul Jennewein, Edward McCartan, Gaetano Cecere, Chester Beach, Lee Lawrie and Paul Manship.
And at the Art Students League with Arthur Lee. He then apprenticed with James Earle Fraser, Carl Jennewein, and Joseph Kiselewski. During World World War II he joined the United States Army Air Corps where he served s a photographer and a photography instructor.
At that time he created a statue, ‘’Morning Mission’’ that was cast in bronze and now resides at the Tulsa Municipal Airport.
Weinman was one of 250 sculptors who exhibited in the 3rd Sculpture International held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the summer of 1949.
Served to sergeant United States Army 1942-1945. Fellow National Sculpture Society (president 1973-1976, Bennett Prize 1952, Henry Hering medal 1985, Medal of Honor 1997). Member National Academy Design (academician).
Married Jane Morrison, July 14, 1945. Children: Paul Alexander, Christopher Robert.
