After earning his medical degree, he pursued residency training in pathology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (2004–2008), followed by specialized fellowship appointments in oral and maxillofacial pathology, cytopathology, surgical pathology, and head and neck pathology.
In 2010 he joined the faculty of the University of Illinois at Chicago, serving as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology at the College of Medicine and Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the College of Dentistry. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has worked as a dental consultant since 1999.
