Petter, Rodolphe C. was born on February 19, 1865 in Vevey, Switzerland. Son of Louis and Elise (Dubuis de la Praz) Petter.

Education

Educational public schools, Switzerland. Missionary course, 7 years, Basel Theological School. Bachelor of Divinity and Doctor of Divinity, Bethel College, Newton, Kansas Came to the United States, 1890.

Career

Missionary among Southern Cheyenne Indians, Cantonment, Oklahoma, 1891-1916. Northern Cheyennes at Lame Deer, Montana, since 1916.

    • Author of English-Cheyenne Dictionary, Cheyenne Grammar, and of various translations into the Cheyenne language, including Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress and large portions of the Scriptures, besides several edits. of Cheyenne gospel song books. Completed translation and publication of New Testament into Cheyenne, 1934, and given trip to Switzerland in 1935 by friends in recognition. Published “Reisesegen,” 1936.Mission Memoirs, 1936.
