Education
Rogetsu Ishii left the Akita middle school without graduating and went to Tokyo (1893). Studied haiku under Shiki Masaoka.
Career
After his studies was on the editorial staff of Shonihon. Rogetsu Ishii passed a national examination for doctors, began practicing and at the same time edited and published a haiku poetry magazine.
Personality
Rogetsu Ishii was of a pedantic nature and wrote in Chinese characters.
