Career
In 1909 began working for the Contagious Disease Research Institute as an assistant and then joined Kitazato Research Institute, of which he is now director. Professor at Keio University's medical college (1918), doctor to Ministry of Home Affairs (1923) and with the establishment of Welfare Ministry was appointed first chief of Prevention Bureau.
