Background
Roman Gershgorin was born on February 28, 1937 in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg City, Russian Federation). Gershgorin's parents were killed during the Siege of Leningrad. He was brought up in Siberia in an orphanage.

Roman Gershgorin was the author of many plays and television scripts, some of them were staged in Russia. During period of perestroika, he emigrated to the United States. In New York, he organized a theater-studio "Cellar", where he staged experimental plays on the works of Russian, Western European and American playwrights, as well as his own plays.
Education
He graduated from a three-year studio at the Voronezh Drama Theater under the guidance of F.E. Shishigin (1960).
Career
He appeared on stage in extras (performances "Alexey Koltsov", "Woe from Wit", "Crystal Slipper", "Virineya" and others). He worked in the theaters of Sovetsk in the Kaliningrad region, Novosibirsk, where he simultaneously directed the amateur performances of students and employees of the Academgorodok. Created in New York, the publishing house "Adventure", in which he published more than 20 of his books, including "Conversations with William Shakespeare" (1991), "Two Comedies" (1992), "Holiday" (1995), "Again January cruel cold ... ": (Studies of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin) (2002). In the autobiographical novel "Expulsion from Paradise" (1998, 2001), dedicated to the memory of F.E. Shishigin.
